The Rouge Forum
is
pleased to announce its 2004 Summer
Institute on Education and Society.
This interactive conference,
building
on a
caring
education
community, will focus on creating and promoting ideas, programs and
strategies
for actively resisting inequality, racism, sexism and irrationalism in
formal
and informal educative settings. Previous institutes have supported
efforts
from divergent sectors of the education and wider communities in
sharing ideas
and coordinating action for change at the local, state and national
levels.
Please come prepared to participate.
Conference organizers are
interested in
presentations and
papers that define and examine issues from a variety of critical
perspectives.
Proposals employing Marxian analysis do not need to be cleared with
Homeland
Security officials before submission!

not only
understanding the
world but also changing it, please consider proposing a session with

which it fits:

What is the
Rouge
Forum? The Rouge Forum is a group of
educators, community organizers, students, and parents seeking a
democratic
society. We are concerned about questions like these: How can we teach
against
racism, national chauvinism, and sexism in an increasingly
authoritarian and
undemocratic society? How can we gain enough real power to keep our
ideals and
still teach and learn? Whose interests shall serve in a society that is
ever
more unequal? We are both research and action oriented.
